Pacific Section Meeting – Geophysical Session – Call for Abstracts

Fellow Geoscientists and PCS-SEG members,

Along with the PSAAPG and SEPM, the Pacific Coast Section-SEG is co-hosting the 2020 Pacific Section annual meeting, April 4-8 at the Mandalay Beach resort; Oxnard, CA. The PCS-SEG is sponsoring a technical session and we are actively seeking talks related to seismic-based reservoir characterization, 2D and 3D seismic applications, seismic acquisition and processing methods, AVO/Inversion studies, solid earth seismology and earth systems as well as talks related to the topic of induced seismicity. The abstract format is AAPG style, so is not overly onerous. The deadline for abstract is fast approaching, but you still have plenty of time to get that abstract in. If you have questions regarding a topic and/or are wondering if your talk would fit in this session, please feel free to contact Gary Myers @ 661-246-6184 or by email at gamyers@aeraenergy.com.

Abstracts can be submitted here:  http://psaapgconvention.org/conventions/2020/ [psaapgconvention.org]

2020 3D Seismic Symposium Call for Papers

3D Seismic Symposium: Vision 2020: Revealing the Reservoir:

The 26th annual 3D Seismic Symposium, sponsored by the Denver Geophysical Society (DGS), will be held Tuesday 17 March, 2020 at the Ellie Caulkins Auditorium, Denver Center for the Performing Arts Complex in downtown Denver, Colorado.  Although many of the talks focus on the application of seismic and other geophysical tools, we have a number of presentations that take an integrated approach.

Kevin Raterman, Engineering Fellow at ConocoPhillips, will kick off the day by presenting the simulated rock volume (SRV) pilot project undertaken in the Eagle Ford.  Utilizing a dataset including core, image log, microseismic, DTS/DAS, and pressure data, the observed reservoir state preceding and following hydraulic fracturing will be presented, emphasizing geologic, geophysical, reservoir engineering and completions related observations.

Brian Owens, Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Rockies at Occidental, will offer the keynote discussing Oxy’s roadmap for success, detailing where they have been and where they are going.

To jump start the symposium, the DGS will host a happy hour along with the Student Challenge Bowl (not just for students) on Monday, 16 March 2020 at Ellie Caulkins.
